Alternate side parking rules are in effect Friday and Saturday

Today’s the last big summer getaway day and the Labor Day weekend rush will go from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

It’ll be slowed even more on the FDR Drive, Major Deegan, Cross Bronx, and RFK Bridge because of the 7 p.m. Yankees-A’s game and the Electric Zoo concert festival on Randall’s Island.

Work on the Bruckner continues and only one lane to the RFK is expected to be open through Friday, when the Zoo music fest opens 3 p.m. About 100,000 people will attend over three days, and since there is no parking, many will be dropped off near the bridge. Better to take the Lexington line to 125th St. and an express bus, a ferry from E. 35th St., a Brooklyn shuttle from Wythe Ave. and N. 12th St., or walk or bike over the E. 103rd St. footbridge.

The U.S. Open is 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday in Flushing and will add to tonight’s Hamptons traffic at the Queens Midtown Tunnel, the L.I.E., Grand Central, and Van Wyck. Take the 7 or the L.I.R.R.’s Port Washington line to Mets-Willets Pt.

Brad Paisley is at Jones Beach 7:30 p.m. Friday, affecting the Southern and Meadowbrook State parkways.

Three NATO warships will pull in near the West Side Highway and 45th St. 11 a.m. Friday and will cause rubber-necking slowdowns until Tuesday.

Good news, holiday construction suspensions mean the Queens Midtown and Brooklyn-Battery (a.k.a. Hugh L. Carey) tunnels will have both tubes open until Tuesday night and will be excellent ways out of Manhattan after 9 p.m. tonight.

The L.I.R.R. and Metro-North will be running extra trains Friday afternoon until 4 p.m., and will have reduced service later.

The Yanks also play the A’s 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Yankee Stadium. The D will run local both ways between 59th and 145th Sts. 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Tuesday.

A street fair closes Broadway 57th to 47th St. 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

The West Indian American Day Junior Carnival will be on Franklin Ave., President St., and nearby Brooklyn streets 8 a.m. 5 p.m. Saturday. It’s a prelude to the big parade Monday. Check Sunday’s column for details.

Sunday the Brazilian Day Festival will close Sixth Ave. between 42nd and 56th Sts. early until 7 p.m. There’ll be no east-west traffic 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and 46th St. will be closed from Madison to Seventh Aves.
