January 11, 2019

The Giants interviewed former Jets defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers on Thursday, the Daily News has confirmed, for a senior defensive staff position that they would add if he accepted. NFL Network first reported the interview.

Rodgers, 49, reportedly is deciding between the Giants and Tampa Bay, where fired Jets coach Todd Bowles now is new Bucs coach Bruce Arians’ defensive coordinator.

Rodgers has ties in the Giants organization from his time coaching Miami’s defensive line. He coached Vernon for three seasons (2012-2014) and worked those three years on staff with Giants defensive backs coach Lou Anarumo. And safety Michael Thomas was on the Dolphins while Rodgers was there in 2013-14.

McADOO CHECKIN’ IN WITH CARDS

Ex-Giants head coach Ben McAdoo will interview for a position on new Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury’s staff, ESPN reported Thursday. McAdoo, 41, had success his two years as Giants offensive coordinator and led Big Blue to its only playoff appearance the last seven years in his first season as head coach in 2016. But McAdoo lost the locker room and was fired amid a 3-13 disaster of a season last year and spent this season out of the league. He is only two years older than Kingsbury, who is 39.
