Todd Bowles has resurfaced a little more than a week after the Jets fired him after four seasons. Bowles will be reunited with Bruce Arians, who was hired as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach on Tuesday. The former Jets head coach will be Arians’ defensive coordinator, according to sources.
Bowles played for Arians at Temple before two successful seasons as Arians’ defensive coordinator in Arizona.
Bowles earned AP Assistant Head Coach of the Year honors in 2014 before getting the Jets gig. He was the architect of the Cardinals’ seventh and fifth-ranked scoring defenses in Arizona in 2013 and 2014.
Bowles was fired after going 24-40 with Gang Green, including three consecutive seasons with double-digit losses. The Jets, who went 4-12, gave up the second most points in franchise history (441) this season.
