Forensic scientists identify at least 44 bodies in a well in Mexico

Forensic scientists have identified the remains of at least 44 people buried in a well in the state of Jalisco, just outside the city of Guadalajara, according to the BBC.

The remains were discovered earlier in September in 119 different black bags after local residents began complaining about the smell.

It is the second major find of bodies in Jalisco in 2019. The remains of at least 34 people were discovered at multiple properties in the state in May.

37 bodies confirmed in 119 bags of body parts found in Jalisco.

Authorities had not identified all of the victims yet so the number could rise.

A local organization that searches for missing people requested the government send additional resources to speed up and assist the identification process because the local forensic department was overwhelmed and understaffed.
