Vice President Pence posted a photo of himself and a member of Florida’s Broward Sheriff Office’s SWAT team sporting a conspiracy patch while meeting on Friday.

Sgt. Matt Patten, who was serving as security at Fort Lauderdale Airport, was photographed wearing a patch bearing a capital Q for QAnon, the conspiracy-based theory that asserts President Trump is fighting a secret war against Special Counsel Robert Mueller to capture a pedophile ring that includes a slew of prominent A-listers and notable Democratic politicians, including Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

“Grateful for the courageous members of law enforcement who helped with my visit to Florida this afternoon,” wrote Pence in a now-deleted tweet. “Thank you for everything you do to help keep our communities SAFE.”

Veda Coleman-Wright, a spokesman for the Broward Sheriff’s Office, told Miami New Times that the department was unaware that one of its officers was wearing the patch while meeting Pence.

“The patch is not authorized by (the sheriff’s office),” said Coleman-Wright. “This matter will be addressed immediately.”

Reportedly, Patten has been cited for previous excellence in anti-terrorism training and civic education.

QAnon cropped up in 2017 and is a far-reaching entity that encourages its followers to question crazy conspiracies, including: “Who controls the mainstream media?” “Who paid for Barack Obama to attend Harvard?” and “Why was the Iran deal kept from Congress and placed at the highest level of classification?”
