Ex-Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort repeatedly lied to investigators in breach of plea deal, Robert Mueller charges

Paul Manafort, the criminally convicted former chairman of President Trump’s campaign, lied repeatedly to federal investigators after signing a plea deal two months ago, special counsel Robert Mueller charged in an explosive filing late Monday.

Manafort’s “crimes and lies” during a string of interviews with Mueller’s investigators were in clear violation of his plea agreement and the special counsel said all assurances made to the ex-Trump campaign head as part of the deal should now be off — including possible sentencing leniency.
