Ed Sheeran announced he’ll be taking an 18-month break from music after wrapping up his multi-year Divide tour in Ipswich, England, on Monday night.

“As you may or not know, I’ve been on the Divide tour for over two years now and this is the last day of the whole thing,” Sheeran told the crowd, according to The Sun. “This is something very bittersweet about it. I love that you guys are here and we are ending it in Ipswich.”

“This is my last gig for probably 18 months,” he added.

The 260-show tour spanned 46 countries over 893 days, Sheeran wrote in an Instagram post of him with the tour crew.

He said that ending the tour “feels like, in a weird way, that you’re breaking up with a girlfriend that you’ve been with for years.”

“I was told before I came on that now at the end of this tour I’ve played to nine million people around the world," Sheeran said. "It is the biggest tour ever.”

The Wall Street Journal reported in June that Sheeran’s Divide tour was on track to gross $750 million, making it the biggest tour of all time.
