Speed metal is no defense in the eyes of the law.
A driver in Manitoba, Canada, told a cop who pulled him over that while he was driving more than 90 miles an hour, it was Mötley Crüe’s fault.
“This driver’s excuse for going 145kmh? Kickstart my Heart by Mötley Crüe was on the radio,” the Royal Canadian Mounted Police posted on its Facebook page Jan. 7, alongside a photo of the police radar that clocked the speeder.
The officer who pulled over the speeder said the man’s excuse checked out, but that didn’t matter much.
“Funny enough, our officer knew he was telling the truth, since he was also listening to it — just at a much slower & safer speed. Fined $639,” according to Canadian cops.
The 1989 rock tune starts with the lyrics “When I get high I get high on speed. Top fuel funny car’s A drug for me. My heart, my heart. Kick start my heart. Always got the cops Coming after me.”
