Driver fleeing traffic stop on Staten Island injured NYPD officer’s hand and foot

A motorist pulled over for tinted windows on Staten Island hurt a police officer’s hand and ran over his foot while speeding away Sunday night, cops said.

Officers pulled over the driver’s Mercedes 350 just before 10 p.m. at John and Innis Sts. in Elm Park, in the shadow of the Bayonne Bridge, cops said.

One of the officers smelled pot from inside the car, and tried to talk to the driver, who responded by rolling up the window on the officer’s hand, police said.

The cop broke the window to free his arm, and the Mercedes peeled off, running over the officer’s foot.

The officer was treated at Richmond University Medical Center for cuts to his arm and swelling to his foot, cops said.

Police were still seeking the driver early Monday.
