Mayor Pete Buttigieg has already won — someone’s heart. And at least one company is already profiting from their love.

The two-term mayor of South Bend, Ind., might still have a long road ahead to clinch the Democratic party’s nomination for the 2020 election, but he can feel victorious about one thing: his picture-perfect marriage to Chasten Buttigieg.

As picture-perfect millennials, the Buttigiegs have a loving relationship, which is widely registered on Instagram; they are the proud parents of the “First Dogs of South Bend” Truman and Buddy Buttigieg — who have more than 81,000 Twitter followers; and the two met online, through a somewhat obscure dating app called Hinge.

Obscure until now.

Hinge doesn’t nearly get as much attention as sister companies Tinder and OkCupid, but it received a huge boost in press coverage earlier this year, after Mayor Pete told CNN that he met Chasten using the app.

Right away the company noted a 30% increase in profiles for gay men in the app, according to Fortune.

Amanda Ginsberg, the CEO of parent company Match Group celebrated the growth and said that "this quarter Hinge is launching a big marketing campaign, which we expect to drive accelerated user growth.” The company will use a marketing strategy to emphasize “higher relationship intent,” to be seen in digital channels and offline later this month.

Ginsberg was speaking in the company’s second-quarter 2019 earnings conference call.

“This has increased national attention on the brand and provided more buzz to the already strong growth we’ve seen," she said referring to Pete Buttigieg’s successful dating techniques.

“The marketing campaign follows organic press coverage that Hinge received thanks to the presidential candidate Mayor Pete Buttigieg who met his husband on Hinge.”

America’s gay sweetheart couple — and potentially the nation’s first president and first gGentleman team — got married last year.

Pete Buttigieg started dating the high school teacher in August, 2015, and the couple announced their engagement in December, 2017. They got married in a private ceremony at the Cathedral of St. James, a small Episcopal cathedral in South Bend on June 16, 2018.
