A badly decomposed body was found floating in the basement of an old Brooklyn Heights water plant Wednesday, officials said.

The body was discovered in the bowels of the Joralemon St. former pumping station near Columbia Place, which feeds into the East River, just before 10 a.m.

Portions of the station, located right next to the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, were turned into a co-op called the Pumphouse more than a decade ago.

Cops recovered the remains and took them to the city Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy.

It was not immediately clear if the body floated into the building from the East River or if the victim drowned there, a source said.
