Gov. Cuomo is urging the Federal Aviation Administration to ground the new Boeing planes involved in two fatal crashes in less than five months.
In a statement Tuesday, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey executive director Rick Cotton and Cuomo said the FAA should “move decisively to assure that the public’s safety is protected.”
More than 40 countries have banned the Boeing 737 Max 8 plane after a second fatal crash in Ethiopia on Sunday. In the U.S., however, the FAA and airlines continue to permit the planes to fly.
