‘Chicken Noodle Soup’ song returns with new dance craze, thanks to BTS’ J-Hope, Becky G

It’s baaaaaaaaack.

The “Chicken Noodle Soup” song that became a fixture at mid-2000s middle and high school shindigs has finally made a comeback 13 years after it first made teens and tweens crave “chicken noodle soup with a soda on the side.”

J-Hope of BTS fame and Becky G banded together to release the 2019 rendition of “Chicken Noodle Soup” Friday. At the start of the video, J-Hope mimics the dance moves popularized by the original song’s video, which dropped in 2009.

The K-pop star also took to TikTok after the release to show fans his moves to the catchy tune, captioning the video #cnschallenge #showyourmoves.

At the time of publication, fans across Twitter were posting their dance moves to the social media platform, along with J-Hope’s tags.

The original “Chicken Noodle Soup,” first released in September 2006, is rooted in New York, featuring Harlem-born artists Young B. and Webstar — aka DJ Webstar — and AG aka the Voice of Harlem, as well as references to streets like Lexington. The video, which came out three years later, also boasted its own dance craze (34 seconds in, a man can be seen reading the Daily News in the bathtub).
