A bright-eyed toddler beaten to death by his mother’s boyfriend suffered liver trauma so severe it was impossible for him to survive, prosecutors say.
The autopsy of little Messiah Allen, 2, revealed the tot sustained brutal blows that left him with a ruptured liver — just one of many injuries inflicted upon the tiny victim in his Bronx apartment Thursday night.
The city Medical Examiner said a ruptured liver immediately causes severe symptoms and becomes deadly.
“Messiah was healthy when his mother left him with me,” Kenneth Lynch, 36, the mother’s boyfriend, told cops, according to a criminal complaint. “Messiah was with me the entire time and I was the only person taking care of him until he collapsed and 911 was called.”
He claimed little Messiah hurt himself tumbling out of a stroller, according to cops.
Messiah was unconscious and bruised when medics arrived at the Sotomayor Houses on Bruckner Blvd. in Soundview. He was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center but he could not be saved.
Lynch is charged with manslaughter for allegedly delivering the senseless beat down. He was ordered held without bail.
“You think you trust someone, but you can’t,” the boy’s devastated mother Erica Whitehurst said at a vigil Saturday night. “I’m extremely hurt and just numb. I just can’t think.”
