Two innings after David Wright walked off the field for the final time, Brandon Nimmo could not walk off on his own. The outfielder pulled up after running out a single holding onto his right leg. Nimmo needed help getting off the field and into the clubhouse.

The Mets said Nimmo has a strained left hamstring, but the optimistic outfielder, who always has a smile on his face, said he will be fine after the game. He will be shut down for the season, obviously, with the Mets playing their final game of 2018 on Sunday afternoon.

Still, even Nimmo’s injury could not spoil what was an emotional night during which the Wright, the Mets captain, said farewell.
