Bomb scare, scuffle freak out straphangers at Herald Square subway station

A scuffle in the Herald Square subway station threw a scare into the Wednesday morning commute as straphangers fled the disturbance.

Dozens of people fled the station after the fight broke out and someone yelled about a gun about 8:30 a.m. in the station on the B/D lines.

There was also a reported bomb scare but nothing came of it.

“I’m not sure what I just witnessed but something just went down at the 34th St Herald Square Subway Station,” commuter Matt Grossman tweeted. “A lot of screaming and running throughout the station. NYPD appears to be responding quickly.” He added that a D train was cleared of passengers.

“Was on that train,” Jared Dworkin tweeted. “Saw people running by and looking back frantically. Then ran for my life! Walking uptown now… fresh air! Phew!”
