She’s a merry “Widow.”
Scarlett Johansson, star of Marvel’s forthcoming “Black Widow” movie tops Forbes’ list of the highest-paid actresses in the world for the second straight year.
The finance magazine’s editors ranked the actresses by tallying up their takes from June 1, 2018 to June 1, 2019. And ScarJo is leading the pack of big-money-makers.
For the second year in a row, Johansson is the world’s highest-paid actress thanks to her lucrative role as Black Widow, for which she earns an eight-figure check plus backend points on Marvel films. https://t.co/BrIHltR5Vypic.twitter.com/dRGaNyNMlI
Her reported $56 million bottom line was bolstered by her compensation for “Avengers: Infinity War” and its sequel “Avengers: Endgame.”
The Marvel movies reportedly earned her an “eight-figure check” as well as lucrative profit points — which were especially lucrative, considering that “Endgame” is the highest-grossing movie of all time.
Second on the list is “Modern Family” actress Sofia Vergara, who earned $44 million, not only for her work on the long-running ABC sitcom, but also from her lucrative branding deals, which include signature lines of jeans and home furnishings. The Colombian beauty can also be seen on Head & Shoulders commercials with her son.
Producing has become quite profitable for Reese Witherspoon, who come comes in at No. 3 on the list. Her $35 million take between June and June 2018 and June 19 was earned in part by producing the Emmy-winning HBO drama “Big Little Lies,” and the upcoming Natalie Portman film “Lucy in the Sky,” among other projects.
Witherspoon’s “Big Little Lies” co-star, Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman, and former “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston round out the top 5.
