Are they claiming Donald Trump is the Second Coming? Or maybe it’s a reference to the President’s seduction of porn star Stormy Daniels.
St. Louis motorists are perplexed by a highway billboard featuring Trump along with the biblical verse “The Word Became Flesh…”
There’s no indication who paid for the signage, which also reads “Make the Gospel Great Again.” That’s a play on Trump’s campaign pledge to “Make America Great Again.”
CBS affiliate KMOV4 took to the streets to ask area residents what they thought of the billboard.
“I didn’t know what to make of it,” said Missourian Sherri Chisholism. “I didn’t know what message it was trying to send but I felt like it was somewhat offensive, I didn’t know if they were trying to equate Donald Trump to Jesus.”
The reference is pulled from John 1:14, which reads: “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
The President famously fell flat when he attempted to spread the word of God during a January 2016 rally at an evangelical university when he referenced the writing of “Two Corinthians” before reciting a New Testament verse from “Second Corinthians.”
