“The Bachelor” isn’t the only reality series proving love on TV is possible.
Two contestants on “Big Brother” were engaged during Wednesday night’s live season 20 finale — sparking not only congratulations, but buzz of a “Big Brother” baby.
Chris (Swaggy C) Williams popped the question to Bayleigh Dayton months after meeting her on the show, when both were houseguests competing for the $500,000 grand prize.
“Watching you tell millions of people around the world how much you love me and how you want to be with me forever made me realize that ‘girlfriend’ wasn’t enough, honestly,” Williams, 23, said before crossing the stage and getting down on one knee.
“In front of millions around the world, I don’t really care about any girl in the world. I want you and only you. And I don’t really know what my future holds but I do know I want you in it.”
Dayton, 25, let out a shocked, “Shut up!” before she excitedly accepted and he slipped the ring on her finger, much to the surprise of their fellow houseguests.
The pair only spent 23 days together in the “Big Brother” house before Williams was evicted during week two. Dayton made it to week six, which qualified for the “jury house” – meaning she has been sequestered since her August eviction, and hasn’t had any contact with Williams in 76 days.
The separation didn’t seem to have any effect on their connection, though, and Williams told Dayton during their reunion that he’s golfed with her father every weekend she’s been gone, and has scored invites to her family functions.
Still, the engagement wasn’t the only thing that had fans’ tongues wagging.
A post-show interview given by the two sparked rumors that a “Swayleigh” baby might not be too far off.
Dayton and Williams sat down for an interview with “Celebrity Big Brother” alums Ross Mathews and Marissa Jaret Winokur, and were casually asked whether babies were in their future.
The happy couple awkwardly avoided eye contact and smirked, as Dayton looked to Williams, who responded with a big shrug.
“We’re not commenting on anything,” he said.
Added Dayton, “We can’t comment anything baby-related, but yes … Yes, we definitely want to have babies.”
Later, Reddit sleuths noticed a possible hint in one of Dayton’s Instagram stories.
She and Williams revealed that they each wrote each other letters while they were separated, and Dayton briefly showed the letters on her Instagram story. Eagle-eyed viewers noted that in one of the letters, she makes note of “having a baby” with Williams.
Dayton previously confessed to her housemate Haleigh Broucher that she thought she might be pregnant in a conversation captured by the show’s live feeds.
The two weren’t the only “showmance” of the season. Alliance members Tyler Crispen and Angela Rummans also struck up a relationship that both said they’re excited to see through outside the house, while Broucher and Fessyl Shafaat also said their on-screen love was “the real deal.”
