‘Batwoman’ star Ruby Rose reveals she had emergency surgery following stunt injury that put her at risk of paralysis

An injury suffered during stunt work left actress Ruby Rose in need of emergency surgery after the accident put her at risk of paralysis, the star revealed.

Rose, 33, posted on Instagram a graphic video that shows her actual operation taking place.

“A couple of months ago I was told I needed an emergency surgery or I was risking becoming paralyzed... I had herniated two discs doing stunts, and they were close to severing my spinal chord (sic),” she captioned the post. “I was in chronic pain and yet couldn’t feel my arms.”

Rose did not disclose which project she was working on at the time of the incident, nor did she say what kind of stunt she was doing.

She addressed the post to the people who are asking about the new scar on her neck.

The Australian-born Rose played Stella Carlin on “Orange Is the New Black” and is set to portray the title hero on The CW’s “Batwoman” series. The first episode of that show is set to air on Oct. 6.

In her Instagram post, Rose also thanked her doctor and explained why she had her surgery videotaped.

“Did you not watch that Greys anatomy episode where they left a towel in a patient??” Rose wrote. “Also I wanted to see what happens when we go under.”
