At least three dead after helicopter crashes into Calif. home


At least three people were killed, and two others were injured after a helicopter crashed into a California home Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

Four people were aboard the R44 helicopter based out of John Wayne Airport went down before 2 p.m. in Newport Beach, authorities said.  

It's unclear whether the three victims were on the ground or in the aircraft before the crash. It's also unknown if anyone was in the home at the time. 

The other victims' conditions remain unknown. 

Videos and photos of the crash site show the mangled plane on the side of a home.

The Newport Beach Police Department urged residents to avoid the area.
