Thousands of people may be missing in the Bahamas as the devastated country begins the long recovery after Hurricane Dorian.
The Bahamian government’s list of possible missing people tops 2,500, officials announced Wednesday.
That list is expected to shrink as the names are cross-checked with people who evacuated before the storm hit and those who are staying in emergency shelters.
Fifty people are confirmed dead after the Category 5 storm swept through the Bahamas more than a week ago. Rescue teams are still searching through the rubble.
