The stork has paid another visit to the world’s most famous giraffe!

April the Giraffe on Saturday welcomed a healthy baby boy around 12:45 p.m. while more than 300,000 people watched via livestream.

Staff at Animal Adventure Park in Hapursville, New York announced that she went into labor around 11 a.m. and within minutes, a tiny hoof appeared to be emerging from the zoo’s most well-known resident.

The new mother of five first became an internet sensation in 2017, when the world eagerly awaited the birth of her calf Tajiri. She drew more than 3.2 million YouTube live views in the seven-weeks leading up to the arrival of her fourth baby.

On April 15, 2017, the 16-foot- giraffe welcomed her son, with more than 1.2 million tuning into the live feed.

While Tajiri was April’s fourth calf, it was the first baby giraffe for Adventure park. The happy family is rounded out by a 5-year-old giraffe named Oliver, who is the father of April’s latest offspring.

Giraffes typically give birth standing up, which means the newborn calf will start his life off with a 6-foot drop to the ground, according to Animal Planet. While it may not sound like the most graceful way to enter the world, the fall breaks the amniotic sac, severs the umbilical cord and “most importantly, encourages the calf to take its first breaths.”

According to zoo staff, April’s newborn was up and walking within the hour. Calves must learn to stand quickly so that they can reach their mother to nurse.
