The “third eye” may or may not be real — but a three-camera iPhone may be in the near future.
Apple will release three new iPhones this year, and one may have three cameras, according to a report first published in the Wall Street Journal.
The highest-end model to be released by the tech giant will have three rear cameras while the other two models would each have two, USA Today reported.
One of the phones may be a successor to the iPhone XR — a cheaper model released in 2018 with an LCD display instead of the OLED technology that is used in the line’s higher-priced models.
In 2020, all iPhones may see OLED displays — in addition to support for 5G capabilities being introduced by cell phone service providers.
The report surfaces just a month after Apple drastically cut prices on the iPhone XR. The phone was advertised $300 less than the original price at $449 if they traded their iPhone 7 Plus — a higher-end model from two years ago, Bloomberg reported.
Chinese retailers also slashed prices on iPhones with discounts close to $200 — citing low demand for consumers who felt prices were too high on the devices, as reported by CNBC.
