Ambien maker refutes Roseanne Barr’s claim: ‘racism is not a known side effect’

Sanofi US, which makes Ambien, refuted Roseanne Barr’s claim that the prescription drug is responsible for her hate-filled tweets.

“People of all races, religions and nationalities work at Sanofi every day to improve the lives of people around the world,” @SanofiUS tweeted Wednesday morning.




“While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication,” the drug-maker added.

Barr claimed that she was “ambien tweeting” on Tuesday when she posted that Barack Obama’s top adviser Valerie Jarrett, who is black, is the offspring of an ape and the Muslim Brotherhood. ABC axed the rebooted sitcom “Roseanne” as a result of the racist tweet.

Since @SanofiUS defended its product at 6:57 a.m. on Wednesday, the tweet had gotten liked more then 20,000 times and retweeted more than 9,100 times.
