Aides say Cuomo has convention teleprompter snafu

New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo (Anthony DelMundo/New York Daily News)

The following was cut for space from my “Albany Insider” column in Monday’s print editions:

Gov. Cuomo is said to have averted disaster during his 48-minute acceptance speech at the convention.

Aides to the governor say that shortly after taking the stage to address the crowd, Cuomo’s teleprompter died.

Aides quickly tried to fix it, but Cuomo wound up giving the speech from memory, his aides say.

The convention speech, ironically, is one of the rare times Cuomo actually was set to read from a teleprompter. His speech focused on two themes–progressivism that gets results and taking on President Trump and the Republican Congress.
