Bruce Springsteen isn’t good with names, but he doesn’t forget a face.
Comedian Adam Sandler started his morning with a visit to SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show,” where he recounted meeting The Boss in a gym.
“I’d just gotten on ‘S.N.L.’ we’re upstairs working out at an older Bally’s place, I kept walking by and going ‘holy cow, I think that guy looks like Bruce Springsteen,’” Sandler recalled.
He finally worked up the nerve to introduce himself to the rock star.
“Finally I f–kin’ walk past him and I go ‘Hey, ah, Bruce?’ And he says, ‘hey, hey,” Sandler said.
When Sandler started to introduce himself, Springsteen cut him off.
“He goes ‘I know you — you’re Adam Stanley,’” Springsteen said.
In his excitement, Sandler didn’t mind that Springsteen botched his name. But when he told his “Saturday Night Live” castmates that he’d met Springsteen and the rocker knew who he was, they were skeptical.
“No one believed me,” said Sandler, who was on the show from 1990 to 1995.
When Springsteen appeared on “Saturday Night Live” in 1992, the whole cast got a chance to meet him and Sandler got the last laugh.
