Aaron Hicks has exited Game 1 of the ALDS in the fourth inning.

The Yankees center fielder ripped a single to right field and than jogged gingerly to first base with a grimace on his face. It appeared he may have aggravated a hamstring injury that kept him out a game a few weeks ago, although the Yankees had indicated it was not a big deal at the time.

Hicks had battled with Chris Sale through an 11-pitch at-bat before singling. Trainer Steve Donohue and Aaron Boone came out to check on him, and after Hicks tried to stretch and walk it out, he ultimately left the game.

Veteran Brett Gardner replaced him at first base.

The Yankees came into this series feeling they were at full health, but the loss of Hicks could be a big one.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates
