A 19-year-old Las Vegas man is facing murder charges after a body was found in a sleeping bag

Sin City police arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with a body found wrapped in a sleeping bag in the desert.

Michael Miller was taken into police custody Sept. 24, a week after the shooting death of 47-year-old Raul James Salazar, according to NBC News in Las Vegas.

Salazar had been reported missing before Red Rock Search and Rescue reportedly discovered the victim’s corpse around 7:30 a.m. Sept. 20 in a valley near State Route 147.

Police said Miller was detained without incident. He had been disfigured by a 2003 house fire that killed his 4-year-old cousin, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Miller’s uncle Robert reportedly said he’d heard his nephew mention Salazar’s name. It’s unclear what, if any, relationship the victim and suspect had to one another.
