Six people were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of plotting to attack French President Emmanuel Macron, officials say.

Five men and one woman between the ages of 22 and 62 were apprehended across three different regions in France. One was found in the Alps, another in Brittany, and four in Moselle, near the Belgian border. The suspects are being investigated as a “criminal terrorist association.”

“This investigation is looking into a plot, vague and ill-defined at this stage, involving violent action against the president of the republic,” prosecutors said Tuesday, The BBC reported.

Interior Minister Christopher Castaner said the suspects are believed to be far-right activists who made “concrete threats” against the French President.

Macron was in Verdun, in northeastern France Tuesday, for the centenary commemorations for the end of World War I.

Former French president have also been targets of attempted attacks. In 2002, Jacques Chirac survived an assassination attempt by a man described as a far-right sympathizer.
