A van packed with 14 passengers headed for the New York-New Jersey area reportedly crashed on I-95 in North Carolina Saturday night, killing two people and injuring 10 others.

The Chevy van, which was heading north from Florida, ran off the road and hit a tree in Cumberland County around 9:30 p.m., according to ABC11 in Raleigh, N.C.

The van driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, WRAL-TV reported.

None of the people in the van were wearing seatbelts, North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers told the news outlet. Troopers said some of the injured were in critical condition.

Troopers said it didn’t appear weather, alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash, although the roads were wet, WRAL-TV reported.

The state Highway Patrol is investigating.
