Vulgar vandal bombarding Arizona city with ‘Penis Man’ graffiti

2020-01-07

Residents and officials in Tempe, Ariz., are baffled after a graffiti artist calling himself the Penis Man swooped in and starting spray-painting the crude tag all around town.

According to a recent, and delightful, report on the local ABC News, the bawdy bomber is running rampant and struck nearly 40 times since first being spotted in November. The tag has been seen everywhere from dumpsters and old buildings to traffic signs and other property.

“There’s street art and then there’s just being obnoxious,” one angry Arizonan told ABC 15 about the city’s newest scourge.

The vulgar vandal has garnered praise across social media.

“The hero we deserve, but not the one we need right now,” Reddit user MarxistPharaoh wrote.

According to a Tempe city official, maintenance crews discovered 34 of the 38 instances of the graffiti that have been found. Three of the others were reported from a tip line.

However, the Tempe Police said none of the complaints have made it to them yet.

“We have no reports of actual calls for service for it,” Tempe Detective Natalie Barela told Phoenix New Times on Monday. “We can only make an arrest on a related call for service.”

However, no new sightings have been reported since ABC 15's broadcast.

“That’s really good," Tempe transportation maintenance manager Isaac Chavira told Phoenix New Times.
