Two people in the Bronx and Staten Island were struck and killed by hit-and-run drivers while trying to cross highways early Friday, police said.
A 28-year-old woman attempting to cross the westbound side of the Staten Island Expressway near Exit 13 was struck by a vehicle around 3:20 a.m.
She was thrown into the carpool lane and died at the scene as the driver sped off, authorities said.
About an hour later, a 37-year-old man was crossing the Bronx River Parkway near Exit 9 when a car in the southbound lane slammed into him, cops said.
The crash sent the victim flying onto the shoulder of the highway as the car drove off. The man suffered severe body trauma and died at the scene.
Both drivers are still being sought.
