Two guys glued winning numbers on lottery ticket in attempt to cash in $100K prize: cops

Two Mississippi men face criminal charges after trying to claim a $100,000 lottery prize by gluing the winning numbers on their ticket, authorities said.

The state lottery commission alerted police as soon as the alleged scammers presented the fake ticket at a store in the city of Flowood, about 8 miles north of Jackson.

Flowood police rushed to the scene and quickly learned the ticket had been altered.

The suspects were identified as Columbus residents Odis Latham, 47, and Russell Sparks, 48. Both were charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and uttering counterfeit instrument over $1,000. They were scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

The Mississippi Lottery Corporation did not immediately return a request for comment Tuesday morning.
