A single-engine airplane crashed at Henderson Executive Airport in Nevada late Saturday, killing two people and injuring three others.
The Beechcraft Sierra plane was taking off for California when it crashed south of the airport, officials told KTNV.
Henderson Fire Department spokesperson Kathleeen Richards told the station that the plane suffered a mechanical issue and was trying to turn around back toward the airport when it crashed.
Two people on board were killed and two were hospitalized with serious injuries, according to KTNV.
None of them were identified.
A fifth person suffered minor smoke inhalation when he or she rushed to the crash to help with the rescue efforts.
