The Daily News is celebrating New York City public high school seniors graduating during the coronavirus pandemic with a special edition on June 28 featuring valedictorian speeches from across the five boroughs.
Dear Boys and Girls High School Class of 2020!
As your class valedictorian, I want to congratulate you on being part of this graduating class. Well done! The last four years of hard work have finally paid off.
I know our high school years were not always easy, but we did it. I am so proud of all that we have accomplished. Your determination and hard work show that you can do anything you put your mind and heart into. I felt inspired each and every day that I stepped into the school building. Even now, with unprecedented obstacles we are all facing, you continue to prove that the Class of 2020 has the ability to succeed under any circumstances.
We are a small school, but we are a family. We push each other to be our best, work hard and pick each other up when we fall. Getting a high school diploma is a very important step for your future. Whether you are looking forward to your first year of college, vocational training or joining the workforce, your commitment to excellence is key. I look forward to seeing your successes and hope we stay in touch. Remember, hard work and perseverance pave the way to the rest of your life.
On behalf of the Class of 2020, I want to thank all the Boys and Girls High School administrators, teachers and support staff for helping us achieve this goal. Without your help and support it would not be possible. Thank you so much!
