Character actor Linda Porter, known for her role as Myrtle on “Superstore,” has died at age 86.
Porter died Friday after a long battle with cancer.
On the NBC comedy, which began its fifth season on Thursday, she played Myrtle, a character who coupled her genial tone with bigoted one-liners.
After her passing, her “Superstore” family took to Twitter to honor her publicly.
Ben Feldman, who stars as Jonah, posted a photo of himself and Porter and said, “Here’s hoping the angels don’t call cut right away because your best stuff always came at the end.”

Mark McKinney, who plays Glenn, changed his Twitter profile photo to Porter using the middle finger, and posted a video of her offering “life advice.”
“Never miss a chance to go skiing,” Porter said, “because it’s the most beautiful thing there is.”
Series writer Vanessa Ramos described Porter as “a true delight of a person who was up for anything.”
The actress appeared in 35 episodes of the series, according to her Internet Movie Database page.
Costar Lauren Ash, who plays Dina, called Porter “always funny, always vibrant and ALWAYS enthusiastic," and said, “I don’t know that anyone loved our show more than Linda.”
“This is a hard one,” Danny Gura, who plays Elias, tweeted with a photo of him and Porter, saying she “always brightened up the Superstore set.”
In her decades-long career, Porter appeared in dozens of series, from “ER" and “Gilmore Girls,” to “How I Met Your Mother" and “Twin Peaks: The Return.” On the big screen, she had roles in “Twins,” “Duplex,” and most recently, the Amy Poehler-Will Ferrell comedy, “The House.”
