“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert congratulated model Chrissy Teigen for beating Donald Trump at his own game Monday by labeling the president a “p--sy ass bitch” after he attacked her on Twitter. That nickname went viral.
The back-and-forth began Monday when Trump became angered by an NBC interview with Teigen’s husband John Legend, a prison reform advocate, who in Trump’s opinion, failed to sufficiently praise the president for recently passed legislation championing the cause.
“Musician @johnlegend, and his filthy mouthed wife, are talking now about how great it is - but I didn’t see them around when we needed help getting it passed,” the 73-year-old president complained on Twitter after seeing Holt’s interview with Legend.
Not only was Teigen in no way involved in the interview, but the president chose not to tag the notoriously sharp tongued, and as Trump alleged, sometimes foul-mouthed model. That didn’t stop her from clapping back.
“Lol what a p---y ass bitch. tagged everyone but me. an honor, mister president.” she tweeted.
Colbert showed the tweet on screen during his Monday night CBS broadcast, then kissed his own fingers and blew a kiss like a chef who’d just finished cooking a perfect meal.
“She just beat trump at Twitter and nicknames,” Colbert said.
Trump, who tweets fanatically, also prides himself on giving clever nicknames to his political rivals, including “Sleepy” Joe Biden, “Crooked” Hillary Clinton and “Little” Marco Rubio. But according to Colbert, Teigen trumped the president on both counts with that simple message.
“So congratulations Mr. President, now people are talking about you,” he said.
