A punchy perp threw wild haymakers at two women inside a Bronx restaurant during a bizarre mugging, video released by police Friday shows.
The 26-year-old victim and her friend were inside the Happy Land Buffet Restaurant on Jerome Ave. near East Burnside Ave. in University Heights about 12:45 p.m. July 9 when an unidentified woman in a black T-shirt, pink shorts and green sneakers started arguing with them, officials said.
As the argument heated up, the angry assailant punched the victim in the face and stormed off, cops said.
A short time later, a man in a white T-shirt and blue shorts bum-rushed the victim, punching her five times and knocking her to the ground, surveillance video from the scene shows.
When the victim’s friend tried to intervene, he punched her in the face as well, knocking something out of her mouth, and sending her into a wall, the video shows.
The suspect snagged the victim’s iPhone8+ before running out of the eatery, cops said.
Neither woman was seriously injured, cops said. The woman who got the brunt of the attack suffered a cut to her hand, but refused medical attention.
Cops described the male attacker as between 20 to 30 years old, and about 5-foot-11 with short black hair and a large build.
