Pennsylvania woman chops friend with tomahawk during dispute at party, police say


A Pennsylvania woman chopped her friend with a tomahawk and lacerated the victim’s liver during a dispute at Saturday night party in Allentown, The Morning Call reported, citing court records.

Carol Lofland, 55, was arrested after the alleged attack, police said. The attack occurred at Lofland’s apartment and left the other woman with internal bleeding and a 2-inch cut on the right side of her chest, The Morning Call reported, citing court records.

The victim was reportedly taken by her friends to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Lofland faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment. She was taken to Lehigh County Jail under $75,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing for Lofland was set for Sept. 30, according to WFMZ-TV.
