Police are investigating the death of a 48-year-old man who was found unconscious with cuts to his face outside a Queens home, officials said Saturday.
A passerby found the victim sprawled out near 173rd St. and 91st Ave. in Jamaica about 7:45 p.m. on Friday and flagged down a passing NYPD police cruiser.
Cops radioed for medics, who rushed the victim to Queens Hospital Center, but he could not be saved. His name was not immediately released, although sources with knowledge of the case said the victim was a Queens resident.
The victim had no apparent injuries except for some lacerations to his face, cops said. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine how he died.
Police on Saturday were scouring the area for surveillance video in the hopes of tracking the man’s movements before he was found on the sidewalk.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
