There is no worse a moment in our profession than this. Pls keep Brian’s family & colleagues in your thoughts.”

Officer Mulkeen died at Jacobi Medical Center after being rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

“Shots fired, shots fired!” a dispatcher could be heard saying on a police scanner during the deadly shootout. “One officer down at that location, one officer down at that location.”

“Ambush, ambush!” another officer yelled out.

Police shut down the surrounding streets early Sunday as they investigated what sparked the gunfight.
