Better luck next time.
A man traveling through Kennedy Airport tried to conceal an illegal handgun in a fiberglass cocoon covered with tar, authorities said Tuesday.
The .45-caliber gun, along with 20 loose bullets, were picked up by a metal detector staffed by Transportation Security Administration officers, officials said.
Port Authority police arrested the man, who was travelling from Barbados, for gun possession.
The gun, a police source said, had to be cut out of the cocoon by emergency services cops.
The weapon was the sixth gun detected at JFK Airport checkpoints so far this year — compared to two in all of 2018, authorities said.
