An elderly man was killed crossing a street in Queens on Saturday night, police said.
The unidentified man, 75, was crossing Jewel Ave. near 140th St. in Kew Gardens Hills around 9 p.m. when he was struck by a car heading east driven by a 30-year-old man, said cops.
“I heard a very large bang,” said a witness who gave his name as Ari.
“Immediately following, I heard screaming,” Ari said. “It was his family — grandkids and daughter. Paramedics came very fast.”
The injured man was rushed to an area hospital, but he could not be saved.
The deceased man was not in a crosswalk, said police.
The motorist who struck the man remained at the scene. Officers were still investigating the crash late Saturday.
