A haunting version of Chris Cornell’s cover of Guns N’ Roses’ ballad “Patience” was released Monday, on what would have been the Soundgarden frontman’s 56th birthday.
The singer’s wife Vicki released the track, recorded in March 2016 in Los Angeles, saying “His birthday seemed the perfect time to share this and celebrate Chris, his voice, music, stories, and art.”
Cornell died in Detroit, Michigan, in May 2018 by hanging. His death, which came after his band finished performing a concert, was ruled a suicide. He was 52.
The song “Patience” was originally released on the Guns N’ Roses album “Lies” in 1989.
