A 73-year-old Maryland woman brutally murdered a great-grandmother by repeatedly striking her with a brick, according to authorities.
Hwa Cha Pak, who was 82, was found in a garden early Sunday in the Bladensburg apartment complex with “upper body trauma,” according to the Prince George’s County Police Department. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cops say suspect Chun Yong Oh struck Pak multiple times with a brick after an argument. Oh called 911 after the slaying, which took place at a senior living facility, according to NBC in Washington.
“Who in their right mind, or what kind of evil, had to creep up to take my grandmother’s life?” Pak’s oldest grandson Andy Kwon told the Washington Post.
Pak helped raise nine grandchildren and was a great-grandmother of three, according to the newspaper.
“She literally bounced from house to house to take care of her grandchildren," Kwon told the Washington Post. “Every inch of that table was filled with food. She gave up so much of her youth and her later life for us.”
Oh was charged with both first- and second-degree murder and is being held without bond.
