Fotis Dulos was arrested Wednesday afternoon on a new tampering charge related to the mysterious disappearance of his estranged wife Jennifer Dulos in May, the Hartford Courant reported.

The husband already suspected of playing a role in his wife’s missing persons case was taken back into custody at 2:30 p.m., an unidentified law enforcement source told the newspaper.

The 51-year-old luxury home builder was picked up at his Farmington mansion and transported to a state police station in Bridgeport, where he was held on $500,000 bond, The Courant said.

Defense lawyer Norm Pattis reportedly had no immediate comment.

It was last week that The Courant reported Connecticut cops were searching for a carpet or mat they believe Fotis ditched outside a Hartford restaurant hours after Jennifer vanished on May 24.

Employees at Milagro’s Restaurant on Albany Ave. told the Hartford Courant that state police visited the location and asked if they noticed anyone leaving or retrieving the mystery mat.

Sources told The Courant that surveillance video shows a man thought to be Fotis walking near a black SUV and grabbing the dark piece of carpet or mat before leaning it against the restaurant’s wall near a trash can.

The mat, believed to be from the back of Jennifer’s Chevy Suburban or from her New Canaan home, later went missing, the newspaper reported.

“I keep hearing a boatload of suspicion about my client, and it’s all based on stuff they can’t find,” Pattis told the Daily News last week.

“Here’s my reaction, call me when you’ve got a case,” he said, explaining his message was directed at authorities. “It’s exasperating that my client is being tried in the press.”

The carpet or mat reportedly was left in close proximity to where police claim they recovered a Vineyard Vines T-shirt, two mops and some sponges all stained with Jennifer’s blood.

Fotis and his girlfriend Michelle Troconis were previously arrested and charged with evidence-tampering and hindering prosecution in the case.

Their arrest warrant affidavits released in June said surveillance footage showed a man thought to be Fotis driving his black truck along Albany Ave. the night Jennifer went missing.

Authorities claim the man tossed items in the trash, stuffed altered license plates in a storm drain and eventually returned to Fotis’ mansion in nearby Farmington.

Cops retrieved the Connecticut plates from the drain and said they traced back to a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban Fotis owned.

Investigators claim cell phone records place Fotis and Troconis together in the area of Albany Ave. that night.

Fotis and Troconis previously pleaded not guilty and were released on $500,000 bail with ankle monitoring.

Jennifer, 50, was last seen dropping the couple’s five kids at the New Canaan Country School between 8 and 8:30 a.m. on May 24.

She was involved in a bitter divorce battle and child custody case with Fotis before she disappeared.

Her 2017 Chevy Suburban was found abandoned on a road near Waveny Park in New Canaan, not far from her rental home.

The couple’s kids have been in the care of their maternal grandmother Gloria Farber since their mom vanished.
