Former PA state senator Mike Folmer gets jail time for child pornography conviction

A former Pennsylvania state senator was sentenced to prison Tuesday for possessing child pornography.

Mike Folmer, a Republican whose district was based in the GOP stronghold of Lebanon County, was sentenced to 364 to 728 days behind bars after pleading guilty earlier this year, CBS 21 News reported.

Folmer, 64, also must register as a sex offender and serve eight years of probation, the station reported.

The four-term state senator who served from 2007 to 2019 was arrested last September after investigators determined he uploaded a sexually explicit image of an underage girl using his Tumblr account.

Authorities also found images of child pornography on Folmer's phone, they said.

Folmer resigned amid bipartisan calls for him to step down, and he pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing child pornography in February.
