Felicity Huffman’s daughter can still retake SAT in wake of college admissions scandal

2019-09-30

Sophia Macy, daughter of actress Felicity Huffman and actor William H. Macy, will not be barred from retaking the SAT that her mom initially paid someone $15,000 to fudge, according to reports.

Without evidence that she knew about her mother’s bribe to Rick Singer, who got an exam proctor to allow extra time and correct her wrong answers, there is nothing stopping the now 19-year-old from retaking the test, Vanity Fair reported.

Huffman, 56, was sentenced on Sept. 19 to 14 days in jail, 250 hours of community service, a $30,000 fine and one year of probation.

She was one of more than three dozen parents charged in the scandal, which came to light in March, and the first to be sentenced.

If there were evidence that Sophia had known about the duplicity, she would not have been allowed to retake the exam, as outlined in the College Board security policy, quoted by TMZ. Even if she had been found to be complicit, TMZ said, the suspension would only have been for six months – a period that has already elapsed since the scandal came to light.

“All in all, it appears Sophia will be just fine,” TMZ said.
