Drunk driver strikes NYPD sergeant in Manhattan: cops

A drunk driver plowed into an NYPD sergeant in Manhattan, knocking him to the ground and breaking his collarbone, police sources said Sunday.

Clinton Olaniyi was driving a Dodge Charger when police showed up to clear out a crowd at the Associated Supermarket parking lot on W. 207th St. and Tenth Ave. in Inwood early Saturday, police sources said.

Olaniyi tried to blow past a group of officers blocking him about 3:30 a.m. and hit the sergeant in the right hand and right shoulder, knocking him to the pavement.

A disturbing photo obtained by the Daily News shows the uniformed sergeant lying on the pavement with a broken collarbone after the crash.

Cops arrested Olaniyi, 23, charging him with reckless endangerment and drunken and impaired driving. He lives in Brooklyn.

He was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court Saturday and released without bail

Attempts to reach Olaniyi weren’t immediately successful Sunday.
